Before entering the world of fashion, Whitney spent over two decades in the motion picture industry where he worked in a management capacity on over 40 independent films produced worldwide. His entre` to the apparel industry came when he joined a family business that manufactured high-end performance outerwear for the consumer and industrial markets. The experience fed his interest in the intricacies of designing and manufacturing of all kinds of outerwear while work and travel over six continents had given him a wealth of knowledge about the clothes one wears in challenging environments.
These experiences saw their fruition when he teamed up with Andy Gathings, a designer out of Birmingham, Alabama who shared a similar background. Sensing a gap in the market for finer men’s clothing, they developed SALENCE by combining technical and functional elements found in high performance outerwear with fabrics and styles more suitable for an urban lifestyle. They also brought an artisanal approach to their creations with meticulous attention to detail, innovation, fit, and durability. With Andy now pursuing other creative opportunities, Whitney has continued to run Salence with a commitment to make outerwear that captures the best of modern design and advanced performance.
The blending of fashion and function is a trend that has emerged in the fashion industry in recent years. Salence has been written about in national magazines and influential blogs. In 2013 it won a Gear of the Year award from National Geographic Magazine and in 2015, it won the prestigious Rising Star Award for Men’s Wear from Fashion Group International.
SALENCE outerwear is currently made exclusively for men and is marketed through finer men’s specialty apparel stores throughout the United States and Japan.

Halle Elizabeth is a designer and stylist living in Jacksonville, FL. Originally from California; it seemed natural to pair the opulence of Hollywood with the carefree nature that Florida offers. Her self-named label embodies the enchantment of eras past while pursuing experimental fashion. The idea is to create unexpected glamour, every day.
Growing up, Halle was influenced by silent movies and old-fashioned musicals. The poise that the actors portrayed on screen gave and air of sophistication to aspire to. This led to an obsession with modernizing retro aesthetics. As a self- taught designer, she had dedicated her life to learning vintage and couture construction techniques. Every collection is produced on a small scale by hand with each piece custom made to the clients measurements.
Love Your Mother is a group of people who have teamed up to raise money for local charities through an annual recycled fashion show.
